Plov Recipe
Proportions are for a 4L kettle pot.
Ingredients
- 1.1 kg calrose rice
- 400 g maize oil
- 3 large onions, sliced to medium thickness
- 0.9 kg beef, cubed
- 2 SP. cumin seeds
- 2 SP. ground cumin
- 1.5 SP salt
- 0.9 kg carrots, cut in thick strips
- One whole head of garlic
Steps
- Soak rice in cold water from the start of the preparation, for a total of about 3 hours, add 1 tsp. of salt.
- Set about 1L of water to boil in a tea kettle
- In the pot, add oil and fry onions until golden
- On high heat, fry the beef, add cumin and salt
- Add the hot water and boil it back out on high heat
- Add carrots, fry of high heat
- Bury the garlic in the base
- Boil a second kettle of water
- Rinse the rice well and add on top
- Add 0.5 L of hot water to cover rice at about half phalanx depth
- Boil out the water, while gently mixing only the rice layer
- Close up and seal for 20 minutes on the smallest fire
